Get to know Lidia Arvai, who worked as a cook in Bozen, Meran and on the Mendelpass at the beginning of the 20th century.
“Oh, I’m sorry, am I in your way? Please excuse me, I was just daydreaming. I rarely get out otherwise, so I especially enjoy the fresh air and daylight. I have been a cook in the kitchens of the Meran Kurhaus for many years, now I’m a bit... below par. The doctors advised me to work at a high-altitude spa for a season, and I have actually managed to find something. Now I’m waiting for the stagecoach to take me up to the Mendel Pass. I have got a job from April to October at the very top, in the restaurant of the Kulm Hotel. The kitchen there is even supposed to have windows. Well, let’s wait and see. Do you have a little more time? I so rarely get to chat ...”
