Experience Trauttmansdorff with all of your senses!
In addition to various themed gardens and plant collections, there are also all kinds of experience stations to see in the garden area. An extraordinary blend of botanical garden and recreational facility turns a visit into an adventure. The gardens are full of intriguing details, works of art and attractions.
Venture across a swaying adventure bridge, walk through an outsize beehive, or experience the mysterious world of subterranean plants – the gardens are dotted with myriad adventure stations suitable for all ages.
Sounding Stones
Delayed Echo – round holes cut into porphyry rocks reveal their secrets and delay the return of sound.
Knollenhäuschen
The space sculpture was built as a new Experience Station for families as part of the special exhibition Root, Bulb & Co. (2012). Inside there are cushions on which you can sit and relax, as well as audio stations where you can listen to various fairy tales.
Grotto
The Grotto’s multimedia show explores the origins of life on Earth in a very vivid way. This attraction features thunder and lightning.
Garden for Lovers
The garden is dedicated to what is undoubtedly the strongest emotion felt by all human beings: love.
Glass House
The Glass House is home to tropical crop plants and orchids. The Terrarium, next to the greenhouse area, offers an up-close-and-personal encounter with insects like leaf-cutter ants.
Adventure Bridge
This precariously swaying suspension bridge leads across an alluvial forest just like those that once covered the marshy lowlands of the Adige (Etschtal) Valley. This is an experience that turns many an adult right back into a child again.
Geological Mosaic
This rock mosaic, which visitors can actually walk onto, illustrates the geology of North Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino in a very novel way.
Innsbruck Alpenzoo Showcase
A partnership between North and South Tyrol – that is, between the Innsbruck Alpine Zoo (A) and the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle (I) – has taken the form of a twin exhibits: Aesculapian snakes at Trauttmansdorff and exotic Mediterranean plants at the Alpenzoo.
Dragonfly Clock
This oversized clock, located in Landscapes of South Tyrol, illustrates just how diverse the species and flight periods of these iridescent insects really are.
Barefoot Path
When was the last time you went barefoot? Leave your shoes behind and take note of the various types of ground under the soles of your feet. As you walk, you’ll notice the different shapes and sizes of the small stones underfoot.
Beehive
This walk-in house for bees teaches visitors about the lives of hardworking honey gatherers – a close up, yet completely safe perspective.
Botanical Underworld
Eerie and entertaining, illuminating and informative: the underground stations, with multimedia elements, teach visitors the basic botany of underground plant life.
