Reaching the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
By car, bus, and train
To reach Merano from Vienna 150 years ago, Empress Sissi was faced with an arduous multi-day journey across the Alps by carriage. Today, there are a wide range of options. Whether it’s by car, bus, train, bike, or even on foot, getting to the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castel or the Touriseum nowadays has become a lot easier – and quicker. No matter which way you decide to travel, we are looking forward to your visit!

Persons with disabilities
There are a total of 10 free parking spaces for visitors with disabilities at P1. If there are no free spaces, ring the bell at the barrier to gain access. Further information about barrier-free access for persons with disabilities is found here.

Coaches
There are parking spaces for up to 9 coaches next to the Visitor Centre. During high visitor traffic, passengers can first be dropped off at the Visitors Centre before the bus is parked at P4. Further information about groups is found here.

By camper
If you arrive at Trauttmansdorff Castle in a camper, head to the specially designated P4 camper car park. So long as you’re visiting the Gardens, you can leave your camper there. Please note that leaving a vehicle overnight in any of our car parks is not allowed.

The fastest way to Trauttmansdorff in Merano

On foot
The 40-minute walk to the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle along the Sissi path from Merano centre is both relaxing and eventful. From the Kurpromenade, the mostly flat path leads along the winter promenade through the Wandelhalle past magnificent castles and manors to Maia Alta and the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. To return, follow the same route back to the Merano town centre. Don’t miss the Sissi Path Flyer.

By bike
Several marked cycle paths lead to the botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. Bicycle parking stands are located at the Visitor Centre.
